Aisha and Lee’s story

 

Hello, Our names are Aisha and Lee Naji, and this is our story.

 

We were born on the 1st of December 1998 at 28 weeks gestation. Our mum, Sylvia, went into labour at her work on 26th November and was eventually transferred by ambulance to Glasgow because Aberdeen Neonatal Unit was full. Luckily for mummy the doctors in Glasgow managed to stop her contractions and she got home to Aberdeen on the train 4 days later. During the journey she went into labour again and had to go straight to hospital on her arrival in Aberdeen where we were vborn at 06:15 and 06:16 the next morning by emergency section. Aisha was born first weighing 3lbs 2 ozs and Lee weighed in at 2lb 11 ozs. We spent the first 11 weeks of our lives at the Neonatal Unit where we were taken great care of by all of the staff there. Mum says we gave her lots of scares during that time wuth various infections and Lee’s lung collapsed, but thankfully we were eventually allowed home at the beginning of February, just before the due date of 20th February. Lee was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of 2, but this really only affects his lower limbs and therefore he is able to try most things, albeit a bit slower although he excellent at reading and writing and mum says we can’t be good at everything anyway! We both have chronic lung disease but thankfully this seems to be getting better as we get older. We are nearly 9 now and still giving mum lots of grey hairs, but ewe are doing well at Quarryhill Primary school and are now in primary 4.

Aisha: I love dressing up and putting on make up as well as singing and dancing and I like Westlife and Zac Efron from High School Musical.

 

Lee: I love my PS2 and football and I play for  my school team, Quarryhill Tigers, as the goal keeper. I also like McFly and Wrestling.

We are part of a youth theatre group and love performing on stage. We are signed with a London Modelling Agency and have taken part in fund raising fashion shows for the Special Nursery.
