special stories (who’s behind the Blackmask?)

During the past 25 years thousands of babies have past through the Special Nursery, all of them have a story to tell. On this page we look at some of the stories which have been bourn out of a close and personal experience in our Special Nursery.

For starters we thought you might like to hear about one story which started twelve years ago on 3rd June 1995 when a baby boy called Ewan was born 15 weeks early. Ewan spent 4 months in the Nursery during which time he had his ups and downs but he did make it home only a couple of weeks past his due date (on the 17th September)   and despite being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at an early age he has grown up to take full advantage of the many gifts he has been blessed with to enjoy a full and active life.

Now in his first year at secondary school Ewan has many interests including music, IT, and sport to name but a few.  He has played cello these past three years and as well as playing in the Youth Orchestra, he has played in numerous concerts with a variety of other musicians. Recently he has decided to have a crack on the flute so we’ll see how that works out over the next few months.

His interest in computers has grown to the point that he and his dad Gordon now started helping local groups and charities build websites, they masquerade under the name Blackmask, and guess what? Yes that’s right, this brand new Special Nursery website is one of their projects! Check out Ewans own site www.blackmask.biz,

You can also read a bit more of Ewan’s special story by clicking the link to his page.

We also thought it might be a good idea to set up a Special Nursery Blog which Ewan will manage as part of his involvement with the site, the idea is that kids who have an interest in the special nursery can share their views or ask questions on this page, click here to check it out.
